Direct Costs of BASIX compliance for multi-unit dwellings
|
|
BMT & ASSOC were engaged by The Centre for International Economics to conduct an independent costing of the additional commitments required by a sample of developments to achieve compliance with the proposed New South Wales Government's Building Sustainability Index (BASIX).
Under the BASIX certificate requirements, each development is required to achieve a 40% reduction in water usage and 25% reduction in energy usage relative to the DIPNR baseline figures, as well as passing the Thermal Comfort requirements.
Using information provided by DIPNR, BMT & ASSOC provided real costs of the effects of BASIX on:
-
A 5 unit residential townhouse development;
-
A mixed use high-rise development comprising 190 residential apartments and 8 commercial/retail spaces; and
-
A 49 unit residential medium-rise development.
