Hi Paul,

Thanks for your comment.

It depends on the scope of changes you have made and the level of detail you can provide. If just a few assets, then providing a cost and date of installation will suffice, but if a larger renovation we may need to inspect if a full breakdown cannot be provided.

Please contact our team on 1300 728 726 and one of our depreciation specialists will be able to discuss what’s required.

Thanks,

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your comment.

If you or a previous owner have made any capital improvements on the properties after 15 September 1987 you will be able to claim capital works deductions on the improvements.
You will also be able to claim plant and equipment depreciation on any new assets that you have purchased for the property.

If you’d like to get in touch with our team on 1300 728 726, we can provide an obligation-free depreciation estimate over the phone.

Thanks,
The BMT Team

Hi Jayson,

Thanks for your comment.

The current stimulus package is only available for business owners and their business assets. These assets must also fall into the ‘plant and equipment’ category.

Both capital improvement and plant and equipment assets for residential properties must still be depreciated using the usual rules.

Thanks,

We have 2 houses in our super fund, both houses around 50 years old. We were told by our old accountant that both houses were too old to claim depreciation. Is this correct?
Thank you

What about with the current stimulus and being able to claim 100% in the 2021 yr for purchasing assets. What if I add a capital improvement like solar power/a bore or something that is new to the house?
