If the Commercial property is available for rent, can the running expenses (e.g. rates - water/council, interest etc) can be claimed as deduction just like the rule applies to residential properties?

e.g. Property is in the market for rent for 6 months i.e. Jan23 to June23 & then let it out in July23. Can the expense relating to those 6 months be claimed against other rental income etc?

Can you please clarify?
Thanks in advance

Thanks
